We are the Statistics Graduate Student Association (SGSA) at UBC.

We created this website for new, current, and prospective graduate students in the Department of Statistics. Here, you can find information about the various activities and events that statistics graduate students organize—all in a single place!

We also aim to create a sense of community in the department and to make it as easy as possible for everyone to get involved. Enjoy!

Hello statistics graduate students, the SGSA has resumed usual activities with a brand new executive committee. Please welcome Angeline, Issac, Jessica, Son and Hasmik!

• [November 12, 2025] Mark your calendars! The UBC/SFU Joint Statistics Seminar is taking place on November 22. More details here!
• [October 28, 2025] To celebrate Halloween, join us for a spooky social deduction game Blood on the Clocktower! There will be pizzas as well as candies!
• [October 10, 2025] Join us for a mini-Thanksgiving on Tuesday, October 14th at 6pm. We have turkey, roast veggies, pumpkin pie, and more!
• [September 15, 2025] SGSA is back with a Stats Grad trip (and a brand new exec)! The Stats Grad Trip will be on September 26th and 27th in Squamish and everyone is welcome to come along.
